Eugène Deslaw
1928 - France/Russie - Noir & Blanc - 9'
A mechanical ballet using machines in the metallic industrial architecture of the beginning of the twentieth century which plays on the superposition of images. With this film, Eugène Deslaw tried to compose a symphony to the glory of the modern world and its most faithful representatives: machines and their pistons, gears, driving mechanisms, etc. An example of the modernistic quest to highlight the poetic value of the machine. The film was shot by Boris Kauffman. And originally, the film was accompanied by the music of Luigi Russolo. Film restored by the CNC Archives françaises du film, in the framework of the Ministry of Culture's old film preservation programme.
