In a Spain totally bled dry, Informe general... gathers together interviews of political representatives from all horizons and speculates on the stages of the reconstruction after Franco’s death. One after the other, the people who will soon be running the country answer the only question with which they were obsessed at the time: “How do you go from a dictatorship to a democracy?” This film constitutes the synthesis of Pere Portabella’s clandestine and openly political films by tackling, using sometimes fiction, sometimes documentary, the great questions facing Spain in 1976.
