Jean-Marie Straub
1972 - RFA - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - 16'
An essay-film of rare power against fascism and capitalism, also dealing with the role of the artist, by Jean-Marie Straub. Among the heterogeneous sequences which dialectically clash, we can see and hear Günter Peter Straschek and Peter Nestler, central characters in German counter-cinema, reading respectively excerpts from letters by Schönberg to Kandinsky (1923) and a speech by Bertolt Brecht (1935) in a recording studio.
