Claude Lévi-Strauss, father of structuralism, is one of the best-known intellectuals of the modern world. This film focusses on the stages of his life at the origin of his thought. As he neared the age of one hundred, Lévi-Strauss considered his stay in Brazil as the formative moment of his career. In 1938, he organised a daring expedition in the least known region of the time, the Brazilian Amazon. The ethnologist recounted this adventure in his famous work Tristes Tropiques. Over several interviews made with Marcelo Fortaleza Flores in his Collège de France office in 2005, Lévi-Strauss revealed certain details of this stay which continued to occupy his thoughts.
