1997 - 50 min - Betacam - Couleur - France
The tabala, a big drum made of cow-hide, resounds, announcing the arrival of Jacques, Thierry and Patrice in Guinea.
After a short stay in Fouta-Djallon, Patrice goes to share the life and work of masons who, in upper Guinea, are fighting against deforestation by building houses of earthen bricks. In France, young Guineans, Souleymane, Kindy, Madeleine discover from the Landes to the Camargue, the practices which unite man with his environment.
In the footsteps of these Guinean and French youngsters confronted with social and cultural practices which were unknown to them beforehand, this film takes us into the complex relations that, for thousands of years have united man, trees and water.
