The tabala, a large drum of cow-skin, sounds in the bush at Fouta-Djallon. It announces the arrival of Jacques and Christophe to the Guinea peasants with whom they are going to live and work for a month. In France, welcomrd by farmers in the Gers, the Lot-et-Garonne and the Camargue, Bissiri, Aliou, Fodé, Morlaye and Souleymane are going to share in the activities on the farms on which, for a time, they are going to live.
The film, in comparing and constrating the outlook of these young French and Guinean agricultural students who discover a rural world unknown to them up till then, shows the feelings, their surprise and the questions which are aroused by the contrast of different social and cultural ways of life : Peul cattle breeders and "gardians at the Camargue, milk and beef production, cattle shows of "Blondes d'Aquitaine" cows, grazing and intensive farming.
