Barajas
Javier Izquierdo
2021 - 60 min - Vidéo Full HD - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - Équateur

Barajas explores the haphazardous death of Angel Rama, Marta Traba, Manuel Scorza and Jorge Ibargüengoitia in a plane crash near the Madrid airport of Barajas in 1983.
Through the archival footage of these four authors -each from a different Latin American country and residents at that time in Paris- the filmmaker evokes the continent’s visual memory during the second half of the 20th century, full social and ideological struggle, dictatorships and exiles that influenced a whole generation.
The chance of an accidental death, Latin American writers’ relationship with Paris, the different forms of exile and the phantasmagoric quality of archival footage are some of the themes of this found footage film with essayistic flairs.
