( La Besa de Luce )
Nathalie Rossetti, Turi Finocchiaro
2008 - 53 min - DV Cam - Couleur - France, Belgique

Shkodër, northern Albania. In 1991, in the wake of a destructive dictatorship that left the country free and without bearings, 17-year-old Arjani, the son of Luce, a Catholic, was murdered by Sutki, a Muslim, during a street brawl. To avoid vengeance, Luce had to fight against all those who appropriated and exploited the articles of the Kanun law for their ends, always talking of the blood feud and forgetting the possibility of forgiveness.
Through the patjimi, a rite of blood of reconciliation between her family and Sutki’s, we witness the most intense moments in which these warring families at last make peace, thanks to the private archives we had access to. Today, the forgiven man looks on Luce as a new mother and thanks to her, he is considered rehabilitated in the eyes of society. Eight years later, we again meet Luce, now an ombudsman, when mediations are entrusted to men, as she tries to help other families to refuse Blood Justice.
