The Paris Opera trains exceptional dancers. What price has to be paid to become one of them, to join the ballet company or receive the final accolade of becoming a Star Dancer? What are the rules of this temple, in which authority, hierarchy and discipline are expressed implacably through the voice of the dance director, the ballet masters, the coaches, the choreographers and by the sanction of the competitive examinations and of appointments - which inevitably lead to some being chosen and others disappointed.
The film shows the perilous progress of the pupils in the first division class of the Paris Opera Dance School, preparing for the competitive examination to enter the Ballet Company of the Paris Opera. In parallel, the film accompanies the Principal Dancers who may or may not achieve the coveted title of Star Dancer this year.
