They could be the trembling clumsy images made with cellphones and placed on the internet during the latest elections in Iran, during demonstrations against changes in the labour laws (CPE), assemblies place de la Bastille to protest against the election of Nicolas Sarkozy, demonstrations against the G8, Nato, against retention centres... films like “small forms”, scarcely polished miniatures which escape from conventional admitted standards, sometimes difficult to watch because too naïve, too confused... and yet which are fully present, waiting to be consulted, placed here or there by an individual, a small group having found the way not to suffocate with rage or anger and to transmit a feeling, an emotion, a political idea. Necessarily political. They could be images of an activist film made in 2005 by a self taught isolated militant on the conditions of life of the West Africans who die in the Gourougou forest on the edges of Melilla — the Spanish enclave located in Morocco, the last European frontier, and whose sadly famous walls are decorated at night with banners in which the wind no longer wants to dive: the torn clothes of negro bodies that the Moroccan auxiliary forces have shot down unless they be the casualties of rifle butts belonging to the Spanish Guardia Civil. They could be more formally finished films made during the hundred days that lasted the 2007 presidential campaign, or the chronicle of the mobilisation against the CPE (change in labour laws affecting young people) in 2006: It is about not surrendering...
