Ardèche is a land of images. The recent inscription of the decorated cave at Pont d'Arc by Unesco as a world heritage site is a shining example and our department can be proud of possessing the oldest paintings in the world.
The image will be the centre of questioning at the twenty-sixth edition of the États généraux du film documentaire, which we have the pleasure of accompanying via our cultural policies in favour of the valorisation, and development of the visual arts.
This year once again, through its screenings, workshops and professional meetings, this summer event which grants neither prize nor award will work to promote the distribution of quality cinema production.
In the original and singular style that constitutes its identity, this festival will focus, in particular for its 2014 edition, on contemporary revolutions and conflicts, which recall like so many echoes events that took place a century ago. The commemorations of the Great War, indeed, provide the opportunity to measure the importance of filmed images for our collective memory.
