In the heart of the Auvergne region, at the foot of the mountains, Vulcania, "musée européen de la Vulcanologie" and its draw for mass tourism is under construction. What will become of those who live in the town shadowed by this artificial volcano ?
Agriculture having disappeared, everyone is trying to find his place in this country that must become, above all else, a pretty landscape. The Region has showered the area with subsidies. So the cemeteries have been moved, beautiful vistas created, and charming Auvergnat chalets constructed for probable seminars.
The few cows that still graze the pastures seem indifferent.
The film leads us, not without humour, to look through the ironic gaze of one of the last locals, into the lives of four people determined to come out on top.
