The ergot is a tiny mushroom parasite of ears of barley which has given rise to terrible epidemics with spectacular symptoms : gangrene of the limbs and attacks resembling epilepsy.
The dezcription of this evil whose origin remained undiscovered for centuries is the starting point of this film which goes on to show us the pharmaceutical properties of ergot and plunges us into the LSD adventure, hallucinatory drug born from the synthesis of a molecule of this parasite.
