Man with No Name
Wang Bing
2009 - 92 min - HD - Couleur - Chine, France

"The protagonist of this story lives far from the worlds of mind or matter. He is a forty-year-old man with no name. He has built his own conditions of survival. He often goes to neighbouring villages but does not speak with other people. He picks up rubbish and thrown out objects but does not beg. He haunts the ruins of abandoned villages at once like an animal and a ghost. Under the double pressure of politics and economics, most people find themselves deprived of their last shreds of dignity.
[...] But a human being remains a human being. He is always looking for reasons to continue to live. I filmed over a long period, through all seasons and conditions to be able to capture the essential moments." (Wang Bing)
