L'Arche de Néné
Jacques Richard
1995 - 60 min - Betacam SP - Couleur - France

"Néné's Ark" is the portrait of René Coynault, sacristan of the village of Chef-Boutonne (Deux-Sèvres) since 1938.
At his retirement, "Néné", the self proclaimed "man among men", welcomes transients and troubles youth to his table. He often has a many as fifteen people for lunch and dinner, with only a pension of no more than 3,000 francs per month - his sole income.
Néné never asks about their past, or the colour of their skin. He requires only a first name and a photo to keep as a memory of their visit. The "sacristan of the streets" has thus welcomed thousands of societal misfists to his table...
