A Dream From the Bath
Marc Karlin
1985 - 22 min - 16 mm - Couleur - Royaume-Uni

Commissioned by Large Door and broadcast on Visions, Channel 4’s film programme, this is a response to the Film Act of 1985, a law which left the UK as the only industrialised country without any state support for cinema. Karlin questions the role of cinema in structuring our sense of belonging and of national identity, and the need for a pluralist cinema free of national stereotypes: a film made as a dream for a more inclusive film culture.
