Zuriko, du Caucase à Montmartre
Louis Bastin
2000 - 26 min - Betacam SP - Couleur - France

Zuriko, 11 years old, a Kurd chased from Georgia with his family, cannot speak a word of French when he arrives clandestinely in Paris.
At school, he will learn to live again like a child of his age, while his parents struggle to get their status of refugee. And sometimes it is he who comes to their help.
Today, Zuriko is familiar with Montmartre, educated in an "initiation class" (destined for "new arrivals, non French-speaking"). At school, we will see, along with him, the amazing capacity for adaptation of his companions in exile, who have come from the four corners of the earth, whose families have left everything to seek asylum here, in an unknown land.
Through his daily life at the hotel, we will discover the difficulties on the path of insertion for a non-French-speaking family and the particular position that a child occupies in the face of linguistic, cultural, social and statutory problems peculiar to those who have been refused asylum.
