Agnès Varda
2004 - 42 min - DV Cam - France
Ydessa, a Canadian collector, gallery owner and art lover, has organised a unique exhibition in Munich. From the floor to the ceiling, she has put together hundreds of old photos that have one thing in common: a teddy bear must figure somewhere in the picture.
On the basic of a deliberately futile pretext, these familiar images, apparently without mystery, from a considerable panorama of humanity and indicate a secret of which the teddy bear becomes the emblem – and of which the last room of the exhibition will reveal the terrifying dimension.
Beyond the central character of her film, Agnès Varda examines the pictures, their naïvely, their enigmas and, above all, their impossible innocence.
