William McIlvanney was born in 1936 in a working-class family at Kilmarnock, small industrial town in the West of Scotland.
Teacher for a while, he has now devoted himself to writing. Novelist, poet, journalist and commentator on political and culture life of his country, William Mc Ilvanney is one of the most popular Scottish writers.
He lives in Glasgow where we follow him, through the places where he finds his inspiration, pubs, streets, crowd faces fascinating him.
