China is the first country in the world to classify internet addiction as a clinical disorder. "Web Junkie" spotlights the treatment used in a Beijing Rehab Centre, and explores the cases of three Chinese teenagers from the day they arrive at the clinic through their 3 month period of rehabilitation.
The program admits children between the ages of 13 and 18 and part of the treatment is a physical training program with regimented meal times and recreation, alongside group therapy sessions.
"Web Junkie" provides a microcosm of modern Chinese life and takes a look at one of the symptoms of the so-called Internet age.
