This film is a meeting with a native people of the Andes in Colombia : the Gambianos. Based on Indian language and memory, the community, rooted in a thousand year old culture, describes its reality, its difficulties and its contradictions to reveal the context of its existence which has been silent up to now...
Running through it like a thread is the history of the Indians' long walk to acquire new space and give prospects to the cross-bred, plural society in which they live. The idea is to learn to look and to listen with the Indians in order to get to know them better, to leave space for imagination and to lead to a real reflection about bringing cultures closer together.
After the pomp of 1992, 1993 was devoted to the native peoples. This film represents an observation and an ever-topical analysis of the Indian of yesterday and today in order to grasp the future : the Indian of tomorrow in his society.
An opening for the approaching 21st century...
