"Timor Lorosae" is a documentary which simultaneously presents the beauty of East Timorese culture, which the East Timorese were banned in their own country from participating in for 25 years, and the first step towards the countries independence from Indonesia. Through the life of Aires de Almeida, Nina da Costa and Naldo Rei, you will discover various aspects of the culture that has been the source of their motivation in their fight for freedom.
Dances, performances, poems, live music, and songs will be shown between interviews and others events which were held in Sydney at the Timorese culture centre, founded by Aires de Almaida and elsewhere in the two months leading up to the ballot. The viewer will have the opportunity to witness this most important event in the Timorese life ; August 30th, the day which they will vote for the independence of their country.
