There are families living in the northern Jordan Valley, on the West Bank, in tents, on land that has been theirs for many generations. These families raise livestock, in small herds or flocks. They have chosen to live this way, far from the city and its constraints. Sumoud’s father explains that living free is an essential need.
The film "Sumoud" depicts the family’s simple and balanced life daily, which is periodically thrown into turmoil by the Israeli army. One day, usually they choose rainy days, Israeli soldiers come in with bulldozers and demolish the tents. Her parents chose to call her Sumoud; her name means resilience.
