Robert Desnos Série-Collection : Un siècle d'écrivains

Jules-César Muracciole
1997 - 45 min - Betacam SP - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - France

"Robert Desnos reads within himself like an open book and does nothing to hold back the pages that fly away with the wind of his life".
It is this beautiful tribute by André Breton in 1924 ("Manifeste du surréalisme") that we wish to grasp in passing to tell the story of Robert Desnos, the poet.
The image is not just a pretty poetical formula, it expresses the writer as much as the man (1900-1945), always generous and brotherly, never cautious in his life and in his work. In this film, we catch some of these "pages that fly away with the wind of his life" to write on the screen the light but lasting traces of a multiform work – poetry, novels, essays, painting, cinema, song, journalism, music (!) – yet coherent and strong.
Our position is to provide, not an exhaustive study of Desnos' works – a direct tête-à-tête is irreplaceable –but the heady little music that comes gradually from the thorough reading of Desnos' books.
