"Kill Sankara, millions of Sankaras will reborn" prophesied the visionary, revolutionary and upright president Thomas Sankara of Burkina Faso just before his murder in 1987. By the end of 2014, after years of struggles against a 27 years dictatorship, the burkinabe people overturned the national assembly and forced its president Blaise Campaoré to resign. This "second revolution" was to a large extent lead by a pacifist movement "Le Balai Citoyen", founded in 2013 by two politically motivated musicians proclaiming Sankara’s legacy, the rasta Sam'k Lejah and the rapper Smokey. Camera in hand, the young director Parfait Kaboré leads us into this unprecedented popular and artistic epic that reveals the aspiration for change and the conquest of freedom.
