"How beautiful the country is..." Well known refrain... And Mellionnec in the centre of Brittany is no exception to the rule. Mellionnec is charming, and welcoming and warm. At the town hall, as in many rural communes, letters are received from all over France and even from Europe, from people who want to leave the city or its suburbs, come to the country, come and start a new life, with or without a precise plan... So we asked the inhabitants of Mellionnec to read some of these letters. They reacted by confiding in us part of their daily life, a daily life made of difficult battles, obstinacy, pugnacious willpower. For us they drew a living picture, but without concessions or romanticism, a far cry from the dreams of city-dwellers, the country and its stakes.
Mellionnec is far away, Mellionnec is very small, but what agitates the village is at the heart of the great stakes of a moving society...
