Musiques en mouvement
Chronique d'une restructuration
Elizabeth Waelchli, Axel Brandt
1996 - 95 min - 16 mm - Couleur - Suisse

In 1988, a young executive takes over the management of Reuge, a company producing Swiss music boxes located in the Vaudois village of Sainte-Croix in the Jura. Stefan Müller plans to modernise the last big firm of its kind to compete with the Japanese.
The film covers the six-year restructuring period, from the first planning meetings to the start-up of the completely automated assembly line. It follows the feelings of the workers, foremen and managers throughout their fight to save the company, their fears and uncertainties, their hopes, their disappointments and restored confidence.
We the makers of this documentary decided, just for once, to be part of the story right from the beginning, to find out if and how an industry which is rich in history and traditions can be saved.
