Of Family and City, Le Havre
Roy Lekus
2019 - 53 min - Video Full HD - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - France

This film narrative describes the social rise of the family of geographer Armand Frémont in Le Havre in the 20th century.
Starting point for the Le Havre-New York line, the city was occupied by the German army in 1940 and then crushed by English bombs in 1944. Its post-war reconstruction launched the "modernist" style, leaving its inhabitants inconsolable.
In the role of Frémont-narrateur, the actor Michel Vuillermoz explores an astonishing mixture of shots, filmed archives and mise en scène (with puppets!) in his quest for the forces that shaped his family and his city.
