Manet, Monet
La Gare Saint-Lazare
Danielle Jaeggi
1998 - 26 min - Couleur - France

Embodiment of modernity, the Saint-Lazare station in the Europe district of Paris, during the 1870s was a choice subject for painters such as Manet, Monet, Caillebotte... Each one adopted a different way of looking at this new, elegant and cosmopolitan district which reveals the various trends of impressionism.
This film invites us, by means of a number of 19th century paintings, to rediscover the streets of the Europe district and the Saint-Lazare station.
