Lux in vitraux Série-Collection : L' École de Nancy, il y a 100 ans...

Patrice Forget
1998 - 26 min - Betacam SP - Couleur - France

100 years ago, Jacques Gruber, a master glassmaker, resurrrected civil stained glass windows, by collaborating with the Nancy School. Thanks to his participation in this artistic movement of naturalist inspiration, the artist introduced new techniques : American glass or blown glass, in many layers, engraved with acid.
"Lux in vitraux" allows us to discover the main works of Jacques Gruber that can be seen at the museum of the Nancy School, at the Maison Bergeret or the town hall in Euville. We also explore the stained glass at the Chamber of Commerce, the Crédit Lyonnais and the Brasserie Excelsior in Nancy, accompanied by stained glass specialists. The evolution of Jacques Gruber’s style towards Art déco is evoked through the presentation of later works : stained glass at the headquarters of Pont-à-Mousson and the post office in Bar-le-Duc.
Punctuated with texts by Émile Gallé and Charles Baudelaire, "Lux in vitraux" is a tribute to this acknowledged artist of the Nancy School.
