They walk and walk, the people of the village of Marthod, along the paths of the Val d’Arly.
Untiring, they go up the slope behind a herd in the June sun, or a sleigh in a snow storm. It is 1999. Why do they meet when they come out of the factory ? And why do they plunge in this way into their past on the threshold of the third millennium ? Who is this girl in love who resists her fate ?
It is 1910 in a Savoy village and it is very difficult to combine marriage for love and marriage for interest. Where are these parallel stories taking us, these stories that have the truth of a documentary, that play with colour and black and white, as if better to measure the time that has passed ?
It is like a family photo album that has been taken out of the attic... like that... to remember... just as we pass into the third millennium.
