This film is a portrait of Mme Nerval : a famous Mambo (creole name given in Haiti to voodoo priestesses). In the temple Mme Nerval receives the inhabitants of Jacmel that she helps with therapeutic practices and mystical rituals.
"Les Illuminations de Mme Nerval" is a daily chronicle inside Mme Nerval’s voodoo temple, of the co-existence of gods and men. At the same time the film is the portrait of a great priestess, who shares the subjective account of her life, her dreams, her contacts with spirits...
It is also the portrait of a strange couple made of this Mambo and "Criminel", the voodoo god who directs her temple.
