Les Grandes Batailles de monsieur le maire Série-Collection : Aux p'tits bonheurs, la France

Christophe de Ponfilly
1997 - 52 min - Betacam SP - Couleur - France

You have to look at and listen to this film to hear a man who is fighting a battle. A magnificent elected man engaged in daily battles, serving those who elected him. Here then, lucid, inventive and funny, is Claude Térouinard, in flesh and blood, mayor of a 750 person village situated between Beauce and Perche : Châtillon-en-Dunois.
His battles are big and beautiful because he goes into them with generosity and wins them with whatever is available, against all odds : battle to save the village's café-grocer-tobacconist-petrol pump ; battle to have the church where no-one goes any more restored ; battle to fill the three classes of the school ; battle against the dazed minds of a majority of the inhabitants who voted for Le Pen ; battle to create jobs...
Everything is filmed jubilantly, as if it was the cinema... and it's all true.
