Bédouins de Pétra
( Entre passé simple et présent imparfait )

Marie-Claire Thouault
2015 - 52 min - Couleur - France

On December 6, 1985, Petra became part of UNESCO heritage. In a few months the city of caravans passed from the hands of the Bedouins to those of all mankind, swinging the destiny of the people it supports. By international decision, the semi-nomadic tribes leave the tents and caves of the ancient city to move into housing blocks. While tourists from around the world flock by the thousand in the site, the local community is trying to reorganize its life on its new territory.
This film is a journey into the heart of the Bedouin tribe of Petra. It is also a lucid look behind the scenes of one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world.
