1977 - 135 min - 16 mm - Couleur - France
First programme of a series of three devoted to the observation of "mental health" in France. In this first investigation, Daniel Karlin and Tony Lainé aimed to show the different ways, prevalent at the time, of viewing "abnormal", "crazy", "moronic" or "deviant" children. The first attitude encountered, illustrated through interviews with parents, the director of a Mental Health Institute and his staff, is that of accepting fate. The second is that of refusing that fate. Here we see parents rise up against the verdicts of traditional medicine.
