The work of Jacques de Thézac is part of the current of social catholicism which occured in the end of the last century. This adoptive Breton, rentier, fond of yachting, encounters the misery of sea people. His life undergoes a complete change, as he decides to devote himself to this population.
Educate sailors, drive them away from alcohol, such is the mission he sets for himself. He then creates, at the turn of the century, several sailors' homes in different Breton harbours. But the religious aspect, discreet at first, evolves more and more into active proselytism.
Thézac was also a talented photographer, and his images are presented in this film in an original fashion.
