Le Festival mondial du théâtre de Nancy
Didier Lannoy, Jean Grémion
1999 - 75 min - Couleur - France

The world festival of theatre in Nancy was, for 20 years (1963-1983), the world pole of attraction of a young theatre that wanted to be a student theatre first of all but which, over the years and under the impulse of Jack Lang and his collaborators, was to allow the voice of different dramatic practices to be heard.
New trends in theatrical aesthetics appeared, with the breaking up of the stage space (street theatre, theatre in apartments, in factories) which put an end to the traditional Italian style theatre.
The film draws a continuous parallel between the extraordinary chain of dramatic practices received by the festival in Nancy, anecdotes about this seething festival and the historic period of the 1960s-70s with all the events which made it the mythical festival that it became.
