Le Deuxième Homme
Annette Dutertre
1997 - 52 min - Betacam SP - Couleur - France

"In the French West Indies, you buy a Negro, in France, you marry a woman". Jules Michelet, 1859 (about the woman peasant in "La Femme").
"No, never again. Today girls don't want to have the sort of live I've had so far, that's for sure." A woman farmer in 1972.
In 1997, at 24, Agnès, the daughter of a farming couple, decided to resume farming studies to run a dairy farm by herself. This was "the choice of a lifestyle for a lifetime" of which she tries to evaluate the consequences on her professional life as well as her life as a woman.
Other women farmers also talk about their experience, their daily life, their families and the future of their trade affected by the tremendous changes in the farming world.
