Michele's Choice
Francis Grosjean
2012 - 52 min - HDV - Couleur - France

Deeply moving portrait of Michèle by her brother (and filmmaker) who has been by her side for the last 21 days of her life.
Her story is at the very heart of the debate on end-of-life issues, active euthanasia and palliative care.
Michèle, a researcher and activist from Lyon, has been suffering from cancer for 10 years and made the conscious choice to Live…with the best possible quality of life on offer for a terminally ill patient.
During treatment, she became acutely aware of the beauty and value of life, the joy of waking up to the view of the Mont Blanc outside her window or just to walk everyday...
She battled with doctors and the hospital to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining such a “quality of life” in all treatments.
And the right to make a choice... the choice, in her case, to die at home, with dignity, surrounded by friends and family.
