Kantor's Circle
( Krag Kantora )

Adrianna Ksiazek, Iwo Ksiazek
2015 - 58 min - HD - Couleur et Noir & blanc - Pologne

In Krakow in 1942, at the height of the Nazi occupation, Tadeusz Kantor, the eminent Polish director who would revolutionize European theatre with his play, "The Dead Class", created independent underground theatre together with young artists.
The film sheds light on the beginnings of this group that would go on to become figures in the Polish avant-garde of the 20th century. They include painters Jerzy Nowosielski, Tadeusz Brzozowski, Jerzy Kujawski and future filmmaker Wojciech Jerzy Has. Professor Mieczyslaw Porebski wrote: „Art that came to life at that time was born as a response to danger and against danger.”
