Lætitia Masson, réalisatrice Série-Collection : La Vie en 8 mm

Catherine Ulmer-Lopez
2003 - 26 min - Vidéo - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - France

"The cinema is life". Laetitia Masson was brought up with the noise of her father’s camera and projector. He was an amateur film-maker who enjoyed making films with his friends, short fictions inspired by the New Wave. A father whose relationship with the cinema left its mark on the work of the woman who directed "En avoir (ou pas)".
For Laetitia Masson it is not a question of showing childhood films, even if we do see her trotting around the house or sledging. What she wanted was to show us her father’s talent, anonymous, and far removed from the commercial mechanisms which, according to her, often distort creation. "What he is making is a purely cinematographic object".
A tribute from the daughter to the father, from the director to the creator.
