Every summer, many people sail across the Mediterranean between France and Algeria, between Marseille and Algiers.
The boat carries cars loaded to the hilt, packages of all sorts piled up wherever there’s room for them, not to mention people bearing their belongings and countless stories.
At sea, we are no longer in France, but not yet arrived in Algeria. And vice versa. Within the enclosed space of the ship, amidst the coming and going and during the suspended time of the trip, these tossed and shuttled women and men give us a different perspective on immigration.
