The Burn
René Ballesteros
2009 - 65 min - DV Cam & XDCAM & HDCam - Couleur - France

Their mother left Chili twenty-six years ago to live in Venezuela. The two children never saw her again. They missed her as she seemed to have vanished beneath the silence of the father and the grandmother who raised them. The only physical trace she left was a library made up of books published by Quimantú, books that were forbidden during the military dictatorship.
The children have grown. The brother is a film-maker, the sister an archive researcher. They try to understand, to retrace, to repair, to incarnate the telephone voice of their mother in order to put an end to the spell woven by the ghost member of their family.
