Every day of the 1992-93 school year, Mariana Otero filmed students in a junior high school in the heart of a housing estate in one of Paris' suburbs. In the classrooms or the principal's office, during parent-teacher meetings or disciplinary hearings the director captured the ordinary, exceptional and dramatic moments in school life.
The students, from ten to sixteen years old, discover the school's rules and its sanctions, a social environment.
The film also shows the complexity of the relationship that these young people, the majority of whom come from difficult backgrounds, maintain with society.
