La Bouscarle
Catalogue d'oiseaux : IX, d'Olivier Messian (1956) Série-Collection : Piano du XXe siècle

Elisabeth Coronel, Arnaud de Mézamat
2000 - 30 min - Super 16 mm - Couleur et Noir & Blanc - France

Like other pieces of the "Catalogue d'oiseaux", "La Bouscarle" (piece IX) is characteristic of one of the composer's main sources of inspiration : bird songs.
The film deals with the personality and the aesthetics of Olivier Messiaen, and inspires us to meditate on man and creation.
"Music is a never-ending dialogue between space and time, between sound and colour, dialogue which climaxes in a unification : time is a space, sound is a colour, space is a compound of superimposed time, the compounds of sound exist simultaneously like the compounds of colour. The musician who thinks, sees, hears, speaks using these fundamental ideas can, to a certain extent, approach the beyond." Olivier Messiaen
