L'Œuvre au rouge
Eric Daviron
2000 - 22 min - Betacam SP & Mini DV - Couleur - France

Over the last 30 years, Quebec sculptor André Fournelle has pursued an artistic dominated by light :the light of fire, neon and molten metal. He works with a variety of materials – wood, glass, steel, earth and even flowers and birds. He creates signs, symbols. His works conveys a sense of uprootedness and the passage of time. A conceptual artist, he was imprisoned in the 70s for "cultural terrorism", he continues to take a stand. He works are imbued by poetry and a force derived from mysticism and psychoanalysis. From Pitié-Salpétrière to Le Pont des Arts in Paris, from the Brigittines Chapel in Brussels to the streets of Montreal, this film traces a portrait of a discreet and straightforward man whose art, conversely, is imposing and technically complex.
