Île des perdus

It's a never-ending flow. All day long, people in search of lost items come to the reception desk at the Lost and Found Office, out of breath from climbing the stairs, after taking the bus or the subway, soaked by the rain, or exhausted from their trip.
With them comes a tide of sorrow, heartbreak, bewilderment and stories, flooding the lobby and counters of the office. Sighs, wails and prayers fill the air.
In the meantime, items arrive in the storage area in waves, brought by subway operators, trucks, taxi drivers, and the airport or museum offices. The items are traces of the outside world – they end up here as consequences of interrupted actions, setbacks, inattentiveness, or mishaps.
The hope for these objects is that they may reconnect with those who have lost them, that a flow may be created between the lower and upper levels of the Office, between the storage and reception areas. That the elevator will bring them to the upper level – and that the loss may be repaired.
