L'Homme des rochers de Palawan
Christopher Hooke
1998 - 48 min - Super 16 mm - Couleur - France, Royaume-Uni

The island of Palawan, Philippines. After an exile of two years, Tulibak has decided to come back among his own people. Tulibak is a Taw Batu, a small cave-dwelling people of 250 individuals who live in caverns difficult to access, on the side of the mountains, in the heart of a preserved valley.
Accompanied by his wife and his four children, Tulibak is the first one to have tried the experience of living in town. He is also the first one to come back to this very closed society who perpetuate a life style that is thousands of years old.
This film is the story of his return. How will the other members of the tribe react to his arrival ? Will Tulibak regain his place in this little community ? Will his children adapt again to this traditional way of life ? Has his exile finally modified his vision of the world ?
Behind these questions, this film gives us the opportunity for several months to share the intimacy of an endearing and moving family.
