The birth of Art nouveau at the end of the nineteenth century can be attributed to the aesthetic research which had been going on in various countries in Europe since the middle of the last century. The objective was to find a modern art form capable of freeing artistic creation from the then present eclectism.
The film covers the freeing of inspiration and the pinning down of the principles of this creation in its extraordinary proliferation around 1900.
