L'An prochain à Jérusalem
Nadia Bouferkas, Mehmet Arikan
2002 - 27 min - Digital vidéo - Couleur - France

This documentary was filmed as part of a plan to develop international exchanges and decentralised cooperation projects based on the visit to Roubaix of 15 young Palestinians from Jerusalem. The film is organised around a three-week stay, presenting the host families and the various events which took place.
Given the difficulty in understanding the problem which has opposed Palestinians and the State of Israel for 54 years, and the idées reçues conveyed by the media, we have tried to simplify the vision of the conflict by providing explanations by means of testimonies from young Palestinians, and other exchanges with Leïla Shaid, the civilian missions. They draw a picture of present-day Palestine, they explain and express themselves in relation to a colonisation that refuses a people one of the fundamental rights : the right to self-determination.
This film is an encounter between men and women who ask questions and testify about the law and the justice of a people who need recognition of their rights and support to achieve peace.
